PROJECT DIRECTOR (JB/KL) [Job Code 2604108A]
The Project Director will serve as the strategic lead for our Malaysian operations, overseeing the end-to-end delivery of complex construction projects with a focus on critical infrastructure. This role requires a high-caliber leader capable of harmonizing cross-functional internal departments with external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards of excellence.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Excellence
- Provide visionary leadership to the Malaysia Project Team, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
- Champion “Excellence in Execution,” ensuring all projects meet or exceed international quality benchmarks and local client expectations.
2. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Internal: Act as the central pivot point between Senior Management and functional leads (Solutions, EHS, Procurement, and Finance) to ensure full organizational alignment.
- External: Serve as the primary representative for the company in high-level engagements with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Regulatory: Navigate the Malaysian regulatory landscape by overseeing the submission process and securing planning/technical clearances from local authorities (e.g., BOMBA, TNB, IWK, Syabas, etc.).
3. Project Governance & Delivery
- Lead the planning and resource allocation for all local projects, ensuring that teams possess the technical skill sets required for critical infrastructure delivery.
- Monitor project health via rigorous tracking of milestones, budgets, and deliverables, providing transparent reporting to Executive Management.
- Proactively identify project risks and implement robust mitigation strategies to protect project timelines and margins.
4. Team Development & Resource Management
- Manage and mentor a diverse ecosystem of internal staff (Project Managers/Engineers) and external partners.
- Conduct performance evaluations and design development initiatives to bridge capability gaps and build a future-ready workforce.
5. EHS & Compliance Advocacy
- Collaborate closely with the EHS team to ensure that every site operates under the highest safety standards, maintaining a “Zero Harm” philosophy.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical), Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 15+ years in the construction industry, with a proven track record in critical infrastructure (e.g., Data Centers, Semiconductors, Power Plants, or High-Tech Manufacturing).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Malaysian building codes, CIDB regulations, and local authority approval workflows.
- Leadership: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills; a “leader of leaders” who can manage complex interpersonal dynamics across multiple organizations.
- Strategic Mindset: Strong commercial acumen with the ability to foresee market trends and operational risks.
