EHS MANAGER (OPERATIONS) [Job Code 200630B]

Responsibilities:

  • This position will lead the Occupational Health, Environmental and Safety program and initiatives for Company’s Data Centre facilities.
  • Overall responsibility of development, implementing and monitoring Occupational Health, Environmental and Safety programs and policies. This role will manage compliance and monitor all in-house staffs and outsource contractor compliance with relevant regulations and legislation, and lead EHS risk assessment and control measures across all Data Centre sites to ensure teams are meeting contractual and legal responsibilities and requirements.
  • EHS managers inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with customer requirement, compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Leading in application of ISO 14001 and 45001 with the support from external consultant and get approve within 3-5 months upon application.
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topic
  • Lead all HSE incident investigation including all necessary reports (e.g. incident report, RCA) and updates to management team.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Conduct site specific audits to measure compliance with procedures and determine corrective action, and close out any non-conformance issues identified.
  • Ensure the Company’s policies, systems, processes and procedures support the Company’s ongoing ISO accreditation for Quality, Safety, Environmental and Risk Management.
  • Develop a passion for HSE in the operations team and reviews performance – setting targets for continuous improvement.
  • Advises management teams on legal requirements, industry best practice and prevailing ground standards.
  • Collaborate with site management team to drive the Safety agenda.
  • Drives culture change/reinforcement of good safety cultures, creating the forums and opportunities to involve and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Develops standards for performance assessment and benchmarking (e.g.; ISO 14001, ISO 45001.)
  • Coordinate accident investigation processes, recording and reporting industrial injuries. Continuous tracking of manhour loss due to incidents (i.e. Incident, near missed, saved, injury).
  • Build effective company, local, national H&S networks to share and learn best practices
  • Supervise and oversees each function delivering to ensure their daily operations in compliance with EHS requirement and standards. Ensure staff are appropriately trained.
  • Ensure implementations of Change Control Application or work method statement including LOTO (log out/tag out) required under Change Management Work Flow Process. Coordinates the with Critical Operations and Property Operation leads to review risk assessment and safe systems of work processes.
  • Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the Occupation, Health, Safety and Environmental of the building’s infrastructure and including work deliveries. Responsible for alerting both Regional EHS Leader and Country Head of Operations of any discrepancies upon issue identified.
  • Lead, give guidance and training provide to the Security & Safety officer and supervisor to identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the building’s staff and occupants work in a safe environment.
  • Provide technical input and support to facility projects and modifications, including construction support, commissioning, and final acceptance, as applicable.
  • Ensure all records and compliance documentation for all function operations are maintained and up to date, including building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with State or Local law.
  • Ensure maintenance contractor are in place to cover regular maintenance for all engineering service, soft services, EHS and security system. Establish contract with vendors if they are not in place. OEM must employ for critical system maintenance.
  • Willingness to operate after office hours and public holiday, 24 x 7 available on-call as and when needed to deal with HSE related matters. Under emergency situation return to Data Centre to conduct problem investigation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent – preferably in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science or EHS related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience of progressive experience leading EHS with heavy emphasis in safety, loss prevention and/or industrial hygiene in manufacturing operations and proven results leading and managing compliance and EHS management systems.
  • Professional safety and/or environmental certifications are desirable (e.g. CSP, OHST, CHMM, CSSE, CHCM, and/or others).
  • Good knowledge of all laws that govern for Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental for Data Centre related building management and maintenance, including building safety, emergency evacuation and environment protection.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, work with business management and technical professionals, develop strong partnerships, communicate, influence and build consensus.
  • Demonstrated success in leading/facilitating safety, health and environmental process improvements and management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with company leadership.
  • Experience in the planning, development, and implementation of EHS management systems and compliance programs.
  • Knowledge of Regional, Federal, state, and local EHS and transportation laws, regulations, rules and standards.
  • Experience with Workers Compensation (or equivalent) administration and Return to Work programs.
  • Ability to positively influence others in order to advance the implementation EHS goals, targets and initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational and cross-functional integration skills.
  • Self-motivated; ability to make independent and informed, prioritized decisions.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to work in both individual and team work settings with minimum supervision.
  • Requires some knowledge of financial terms and principles, forecasting, and budget development.
  • Proficient in computer applications and software, including commercial computerized maintenance management systems, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
