ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS) MANAGER (JB/KL) Job Code [2604104A]

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the project EHS Management Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations, including OSHA 1994, FMA 1967 and DOSH requirements.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities such as DOSH and local councils.
  • Ensure all permits, licenses, and statutory requirements are in place.
  • Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments (HIRARC, JSA, etc.).
  • Implement effective control measures and safe work procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to EHS standards and project requirements.
  • Track and report EHS performance metrics (KPIs, incidents, near misses).
  • Monitor high-risk activities such as:
    • Working at height
    • Lifting operations
    • Electrical works (critical in data centers)
    • Confined space entry
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure “Zero Harm” objectives are embedded across all activities.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, propose corrective actions, and ensure timely reporting of incidents to management and authorities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Registered with DOSH as a Safety & Health Officer (SHO) is preferred/mandatory.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) are an advantage.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of EHS experience in construction.
  • Experience in data center construction projects with multinational or hyperscale clients is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian EHS regulations and international standards.
  • Experience managing large-scale, fast-paced construction sites.
  • Ability to enforce compliance while maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project timelines
  • Proactive and hands-on approach
